Based on animal studies that suggested that cinnamon bark had potential benefits for Diabetes, researchers in Pakistan performed a test called a double-blind, placebo-controlled trial. This is the most reliable form of research because it eliminates the power of suggestion and strictly works with factual information. The double-blind trial keeps both the doctors as well as the participants unaware of who is receiving which treatment. This prevents the researchers from unintentionally telling the participants which treatment they are on which may lead to certain answers instead of the facts. With this study being run with 60 people already diagnosed with Diabetes 2 over a 40-day period of time, the results were in favor of a regular daily dosage of cinnamon to help control Diabetes 2. The overall blood sugars in all 60 people improved as much as 18% to 29%. This is very significant when every little bit helps when it comes to this disease. Although there have been other studies that have shown no improvement, or only marginal benefits, it does prove that in some people cinnamon can help their Diabetes. It is still a little premature to think it is a miracle cure for Diabetes but it is definitely worth trying. The recommended dosage is 1 to 4 grams per day if you are taking the ground cinnamon bark. If you choose the cinnamon oil then it is generally give at a dose of 0.05 to 2 grams per day. Ground cinnamon bark is believed to be safe, but there are more concentrated ingredients found in the ground cinnamon bark. This means that in certain people the high doses might depress your central nervous system, although nothing has been proven at this time. It is just a precaution you may want to consider. Although it is a bit too early to say for sure whether this can cure or aid in Diabetes 2, it is a sure bet that it wont hurt you in any way if you want to try it. Presently there are many clinics that are currently running trials to get a better idea if it really is as helpful as the trial in Pakistan has led people to believe. Until then, make sure you control your Diabetes 2 with the proper intake of foods as well as plenty of exercise. Click here to check out our favourite cinnamon bark extract |
