If you read my previous blog here at Your Health Reporter, you know that I find the diet beneficial for two reasons: Quick weight loss for that special big event OR as a jump-start to a long-term weight loss program. On further review, I will add to that “jump-start” description in that the diet may be a good starting point for a long-term plan because it will help retrain the way you eat. I will talk about that more in a little bit.
If you have a big event for which you need to lose weight, I think it’s fine to use the diet. It will help you lose weight quickly and its methodology is “idiot” proof. That being said, I do not believe that one should use a diet such as this for the long term.
The diet allows for a “cheat” period of 3 days following every 11-day period of dieting. This yo-yo method of dieting will lower your metabolism, which will make it more difficult to lose weight in the future.
Perhaps a better use for Fat Loss 4 Idiots is to sort of kick-start a healthier diet. Losing weight is a difficult and lengthy road. It is a daunting task and if you have been trying to lose weight for a long time, you may need a little morale boost and incentive.
Dropping 5-10 pounds in a few weeks will really help you see how important your weight loss efforts are. You will look better and feel better. As personal development guru, Anthony Robbins says, “Nothing tastes as good as thin feels!”
If you have been eating junk for years and packed on the pounds, you might consider this diet to retrain your taste buds and help you think about what you are putting in your mouth. There is good advice about what to eat and what not to eat in Fat Loss 4 Idiots.
