Critics do not seem to like the Tracy Anderson diet. For one, the Tracy Anderson diet is a macrobiotic diet, which is strict to say the least. Many feel dieters just won’t be able to stick with the plan.
Whole grains and vegetables with a few servings of fish now and again are the main components of the Tracy Anderson diet. Critics feel this can lead to nutritional deficiencies in important nutrients such as calcium and vitamin D.
They also feel the Tracy Anderson diet is simply too low in calories, which can lead to extreme weight loss and potentially, anorexia.
The other critics are the personal trainers which feel her exercises are too simplistic. Some of the exercises in the Tracy Anderson diet include pliates and arm circles. Trainers tend believe these exercises will not lend to sculpted arms and legs, and instead, women should be using weights and challenging the muscles more.
So, all of the criticism and still, Hollywood stars and the public at large seem to be loving the Tracy Anderson diet. Why?
Well, for one, it probably does work and work very well. Just look at Gwyneth, Madonna and Courtney. They all sport gorgeous physiques! So, let’s go back and look at the criticism and see if you should be following the Tracy Anderson diet.
Too strict? The Tracy Anderson diet is strict, but it’s also a way of life. In fact, the word macrobiotic means “great life.” Once you start eating more naturally as the diet advocates, you’ll feel amazing and likely never go back to eating loads of meat and other typical Western cuisine.
(Tracy Anderson-Who doesn’t want a body like that!)
Nutritional deficiencies? Gwyneth Paltrow was recently diagnosed with osteopenia, which means she has low bone density. This could just be genetics or the fact that she avoids sunlight.
Take a supplement with the Tracy Anderson diet and catch some rays and likely, you’ll be okay. Also, eat plenty of dark leafy greens, which are a great source of calcium, especially if you add a little apple cider vinegar to the leaves.
What about rapid weight loss and anorexia? You may have quick weight loss at first, but your body will adjust and you can also adjust how rapidly you lose weight by eating a bit more if you notice the scale dropping too fast.
As far as anorexia? Anorexia is a complicated physical, mental and emotional eating disorder and while someone who is already anorexic or has those tendencies may be harmed by the Tracy Anderson diet, most dieters are safe.
And what of the trainer critique? Tracy Anderson’s exercises work because she does challenge the muscle through repetition. You may think those arm circles and Pilates are nothing until you’ve done them a 100 times!
